A New John Holt Video

Faizan Ramzan is a full-time engineer based in Australia who also creates videos on a variety of topics. I learned about his work when he sent me a link to a video he created, “Traditional Schooling vs. Homeschooling: Insights from John Holt’s Learning All the Time.” I am impressed by his understanding of John’s work and I hope you, too, will enjoy his short and informative presentation. Faizan notes that the lack of empirical evidence is an issue preventing educators/parents from taking homeschooling seriously, but the lack of empirical evidence never stopped compulsory schools from being created many years ago. Why do we act as if the existing compulsory school system is based on some long-standing, scientific, evidence that school is the best place for children to learn and grow? Aren’t there other modes of teaching and learning to use besides the conventional classroom?
